Attorney Dana L. Lauer has been practicing law since 2007 and has focused her practice exclusively on family law matters for the past ten years. Dana represents clients in negotiating and drafting prenuptial or postnuptial agreements; divorce and custody actions; modifications of child custody, child support, alimony; and contempt actions for non-compliance with court orders. Dana works to negotiate a favorable settlement for her clients, but prepares her cases for litigation in the event that court intervention or a trial is necessary.

Dana has successfully walked hundreds of clients through very personal family law cases throughout her career. She has experience with complex divorce cases, including cases involving complicated financial assets and issues such as inheritances and high net-worth estates.  Dana also has experience with high conflict custody cases. As a result, Dana has worked with many different professionals while pursuing her clients’ best interests, such as accountants, appraisers, valuation experts, financial planners, financial experts, psychiatrists, psychologists Guardians ad Litem, Attorneys Representing Children (“ARCs”) parental alienation experts, custody evaluators, and other custody experts.

Prior to joining Kates & Barlow in 2023, Dana worked at a national domestic relations firm focusing on family law. Dana also worked at a general practice firm where she gained litigation experience in civil and criminal matters, and taught legal classes at a local community college.
