Rachel A. Deering
Rachel A. Deering (née Morandi) focuses her practice exclusively in the area of family law including divorce, child custody, removal, paternity actions, alimony, modifications and other family law matters. She has worked in the field of family law for over a decade, first as a paralegal and then as an attorney. Rachel is an experienced litigator and has appeared, argued and tried cases across Massachusetts including high conflict custody matters and complex financial issues such as business valuations in closely held corporations. She has experience working with Guardian ad Litems and Parent Coordinators. In addition to her advocacy inside the courtroom, Rachel also assists clients in negotiating prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements and in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Along with her zealous advocacy both in and out of the courtroom, Rachel is a volunteer for the Attorneys Representing Children (“ARC”) Program at the Norfolk Probate and Family Court, where she is appointed to represent the interests of children in high conflict divorce or other probate matters. She has served as Lawyer of the Day in both Essex and Norfolk counties and has provided pro bono legal services with the Northeast Judicial Center in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Prior to joining Kates & Barlow in 2021, Rachel worked for four years at Lawson & Weitzen, a mid-sized Boston law firm and six years at a boutique law office on the north shore where she gained litigation experience in a wide variety of complex family matters.
